Keeping gambling in check at ii89
Free support lines
These services are for anyone trying to change how they gamble, and for anyone worried about another person's gambling.
- Gambling Help Online is free and confidential, and it is open around the clock. Phone 1800 858 858, or start an online chat.
- Lifeline is there for crisis support. Phone 13 11 14.
You can reach out at any point, not only when things feel serious. If it is someone else's gambling that worries you, the same services are there for you too.
Plan each session
- Choose a spending limit before you start.
- Choose a time limit as well.
- Stop as soon as you hit one of them.
- Leave losses where they are rather than chasing them.
- Take a break if gambling is getting hard to control.
Writing the two limits down before you log in makes them harder to bend once a session is under way. If a session ends early because you reached a limit, the plan has done its job.
Restrictions on your ii89 account
Ask through your ii89 account settings or our support team if you want a deposit limit, a time-out, self-exclusion or your account closed.
Whichever you choose, check with support what the restriction covers and from when it applies. Controls can differ, so confirm the detail rather than assuming it. A restriction that starts later than you expect can leave a gap, which is why the start point is worth asking about.
What BetStop does not do
BetStop, the National Self-Exclusion Register, covers licensed Australian online and phone betting providers. Online casino games are not part of it.
That means signing up to BetStop will neither close your ii89 account nor block it. If you want a casino account restricted, the request has to go to that casino's support team, even if you have already joined the register.
Independent gambling support services can also help you think through what to do next, including which restrictions to ask for.
